Subject title: Mishart101 Sketchbook (NSFW)

Hello, welcome to my sketchbook
I have been drawing for almost 2 years. I hope to master the art of drawing manga/US comics. I have recently started drawing digitally and currently trying to get used to my tablet. Here are some forms i drew. Im trying some blending too while im at it, i managed to nail it on my previous attempt which i posted on deviantart. Oh well baby steps.

Im also studying form with secondary features, im trying to fuse multiple forms to make new shapes.

Tried to Improve my blending with the soft edge brush, still don't understand this process too well.

Nice sketchbook so far and welcome to the forums! Yea getting used to digital can take a bit but it's just a different medium. Your skills as an illustrator are still there. Anyway, looking forward to seeing more.
I too mainly draw girls.

The last one was done from observation.

Trying to study some gestures.
Im not very good with gesture. Some other methods i tried is putting down motion lines (lines of action) and building blocks on them.
These are done from imagination. Perhaps i need to think more abstract. Sometimes i get stuck in details.

Try using reference, but don't get stuck on details. Go to ''Resources'' at Sycra's website and you'll find some reference poses sites that also let you set how much time you spend on one drawing (like sketchdaily.net). Set the time to 5 mins at most, it will help with undarstanding gesture and movement. And keep drawing! :D

For the gestures I think you should do a little bit of reference practice to give you a basic concept out what you need in a gesture for it to be good, don't focus on the contours they are non important as much as the gesture itself.

As others have said here, try to utilize the free gesture sites that exists out there and try to practice everyday and soon you WILL get gestures. Already you're improving. Keep on keepin on!

39 Gesture 2.jpg

Heres more gesture, from sketch daily this time.
I did pause at some points, to correct my set up and to refine some poses a little bit after i finished. But for the most part i had a 5 minute limit and i finished some of them in about 2 others took almost 5 minutes.
Note to self, use less lines if possible.
Thanks Bobo for recommending sketchdaily.net.

So i tried something different this time. I thought i would follow a design process and attempt a finished picture. The result is far better than i had hoped. This my first time attempting to set up a scene, draw landscapes and general finished image design. I will also admit i was a bit impatient and sacrificed some details due to running out of energy and wanting to finish this today.
Im very happy with what i achieved at the end of the year. Though its early i wish everyone a happy new year.

Happy new year !
Your last gesture drawing have less and less line! Keep praticing you're on the right way ^^
Theses sketchy lines may come from the way you move your hand while drawing : You're probably using your wrist to draw instead of your arm/elbow which allow a larger move and cleaner lines.
Waiting for you improvement next year !

Thank You for your comment, you are absolutely correct i am using my wrist, im gonna need to think about how to solve this. I use Huion 610 tablet, my hand kinda sticks to it meaning its difficult to slide it accross the surface and to use my shoulder for straight and long curves. At the moment i don't know what im going to do about it. Maybe get a glove?

I think it could help but I never tried on so I can't be 100% sure it would work

66 CatGirl Head draft.jpg

This is from my imagination. I think i should do observational drawings of anime heads and ajust my sense of style a little because something feels off. On the positive i think i understand how to draw hair better.

67 Female Figure Study.jpg

68 Female figure study 2.jpg

Tried doing observational drawing of the female figure from random google pictures. I don't know if its a good idea but i actually checked my image as i went along by putting it over the photograph then moving it back and making ajustments. I did observational drawing before on paper from googe images, but i never checked it, i left the image when it looked close enough. Hoping to do more observational drawing and get better at estimating.

69 The main basic forms.jpg

Yeah, today i got carried away drawing circles, spend a good 2 hours doing that. After that i decided that i may aswell draw out the 3 major forms so i dont forget them.

I have spend the last few days/weeks can't remember practicing drawing elipses. The exercise gave me confidence to do longer strokes but i decided to put aside the quest for the perfect elipse in a single stroke. I still like that exercise to warm up and it made my life easier.
76 mandible study.jpg

This study is an attempt to describe what goes on under the typical 3/4 face view shape (picture no 2) although i may not be the best person to define it. But in short i been trying to draw the mandible. Picture No 1 was an idea that i will attempt again, it came to me at some point to try and use simple sort of gestural lines to try and define a basic flow of the mandible and build on it. No 3 and 4 is my attempt to establish some simplified form to the mandible.

Let me know what you guys think?
I hope my lines are not too cluttered.

This is probably one of the longest observational sessions i did, about 3-4 hours. I learned soo much about technique and got new ideas simply from observing various shapes i saw. I found eye placement difficult and decided to leave them as they are. Next time i do observational drawing will try to make better eyes.

This is a rough idea i got from doing my observational drawing earlier. Although in the future i think i will raise the eyes a bit.
81 akward head angle.jpg

Trying to work out that akward head angle where the head is looking up and you can see under the jaw. I think i got it.

That's very good! You can try clean your lines a bit.
