Subject title: Looking for a Mentor/Study Buddy to get back into art.

Hey guys thanks for taking the time to read this.

My name is Rick and i usually go by Turtel online. To give you a little bit of background, i'm an 18 year old guy who loves art and ever since i was a kid i used to enjoy drawing what i see. Anyways around 3 years ago i bought a drawing tablet but never put it to good use because i never found the time to do so at the time and eventually stopped drawing. Now that i'm out of school however, i want to get back into art and any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Hello there! I'm also just getting back into art.

I just recently finished a story of mine which i want to turn into a comic (and if possible a visual novel) but then my art skills are kind of rusty so I have to learn it the very basics again.
Currently I'm taking lessons from http://www.ctrlpaint.com/ I have some of their premium videos geared to better my fundamentals skill and I find them very helpful. Just the right pace for me.

I've also tried studying books by Loomis and Scott Robertson. I find Loomis' Fun with a Pencil very helpful http://www.amazon.com/Fun-With-Pencil-A ... 0857687603
I also bought Scott Robertson's two books but found that parts of it were still a bit too advanced for me. So this lead me to find slower paced tutorials and eventually led me to ctrlpaint.com.

I have a full time job but I'll be resigning soon to go back to school for a different course. Contrary to your situation, going back to school meant more free time for me. hehe.
We could do studies together or exchange notes. I have some uploaded on my deviantart (bunnyvoid.deviantart.com). I hang around there everyday so often but I dont have a lot of friends online so its a bleak site. If ur interested, we can head over and exchange stuff there. Its easier.
