Subject title: Design Lab - Puppet Time [youtube activity]

Hey guys!

This is going to be a thread for anyone who wants to participate in my design lab video. The details can be found in this video here: https://youtu.be/YWZQAmz89cc !!

The basic rundown is, you can make designs based around the topic theme, which is "Puppet Time" and people will vote on their favorite idea! This time I'm going to construct an actual puppet of the winning design.

All skill levels are encouraged to participate. Focus on good ideas and appealing design language.

Have fun!

The idea of controlling ears with fingers sounded cute in my head so I ran with it and came up with this cute, simple sock puppet.

Heres mine. Just had an idea where the head of the puppet could split, perhaps another character cuts the head open.

Woo! Finally done.
This was just kind of a simple one as far as design goes; I'm going to try to get another in.

hi! its my first submission, its been fun and I'm sure I'm going to participate on the next one.
anyway this is my design i think the big mouth is really good for puppets and the springs in the ears will add more movement when u turn or move him around adding more personality, I'm not sure about the color but u can make it better I'm sure :D :D

Love your idea and how you illustrated it! could also work as a snake since their jaws are separate

If you're worried about missing the deadline, you could put up a post with your latest progress. But it might be a good idea to update your progress by editing the same post, rather than adding a new one every time. Usually, Sinix streams the selection process, so you'll probably know when it happens.

Greetings all,

Arti The Puppet

I have designed Arti with inspiration of the Muppets and the uppets from Sesamestreet and Avenue Q. I really love these puppets and by their core they are basic sock puppets with some structure.
I also have watched a bit of the construction of a Muppet like puppet in a video with Adam Savage (from Mythbusters) and Rick Lyon(the creator of the puppets of avenue Q). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYwNuP7cwJs
Finally I have done some learning of colour psychology top determine what colours I actually wanted to use for Arti as I had a general idea already.
So I figured out the 3 collours representing different aspects:

Yellow: joy, excitement, friendly
Green: growth, nurture, balance
Purple: creativity, fantasy, ambition

So I tried to figure out a good colour scheme and went with the design.

I also added the colour red for the glasses and the baton to basically move around the attention of the one watching, because Arti is there to teach students he needs to keep the focus of his watchers.
The colour of the glasses and baton can be changed to your liking if you find them to stand out too much.

Arti is also design with the convenience of your wrist in mind, there is a separate sleeve that goes over your arm on the back of the puppet instead of your arm using the body of Arti, this way your wrist will be you much more thankful as this would be a more natural pose. And Arti can stand upright.

As fabrics go, I don’t know for the skin or hair, but the apron can be made of either felt or wool.
I heard that muppet skin is often made from fleece and that Hair is often long faux-fur or wigs.
His Apron also has a pouch to store in art supplies.

I hope this is enough information for Arti :3

It looked better in y head. Also, installing lights into the eyes and mouth would be a cool idea.
