Subject title: Things we used to say about art (that were total bullshit).

"pfft, realism? I just want to draw anime, I don't need realism for that."
"I'll just focus on drawing characters, when I master that then I'll learn to color, and then backgrounds."

Also "Why would I need realism? Maybe my style is more cartoony and realism is stopping me"

"Art is about technical skill not feeling!"

Now I think it's more about instinct and what feels right and not necessarily "technical"

"Quality over Quantity is better"

I definitely starting improving much more after I learned quantity was much more efficient!

" ________ is cheating"

I used to think things like using reference or using any tools in Photoshop was somehow "cheating" and inauthentic.

Man. I was dumb.

Having a critique and saying " I'll fix that later !" but actually never doing it.
" I don't need critique to improve ! I can do it by my own! " Still half-true. Just need a looooot of pratice.
" I has to be perfect. "
" I'm ok with what I draw, I like my style, proportions are nice.. I don't see the urge to get out of my comfort zone " 2016 -" Why did I haven't praticed more when I had the time to draw 5/6hrs a day?! " NOW
" I don't see the point of making still life drawings ... Theye are so useless "

" _______________ hard to draw I'll do it when I'll be more skilled"
" perspective is haaarrddd I will never use it "
" I promise to make backgroud this year! (and only put simple gradient instead of reaaall bakcgrounds) "

"You shouldn't ever use blacks, it's an ugly color and not realistic."

Sadly, I was that retarded at some point in my life.

"I am not as talented as xy, so its absolutely normal that I will never be able to draw as good as he/she does, even if I would like to be so good"

Now I know: its not much about talent, its about practise, interest and a lot of work. Sadly most ppl dont know that... "oh, you are talented!" yeee, I was born like that, man.

"You will definately starve to death when you pursue an art career"

"No that was intentional it is my style!"

"Wow Mark Crilley is amazing!" (I FUCKING BOUGHT HIS HOW TO DRAW BOOK FUCK ME)

"I want to be as good as him!" - Just pursuing to be as good as someone else didn't help me ever, having a mindset on surpassing everyone is way better in my opinion.
