Nah. It kinda starts out alright but it changes genres for the worst.

The only reason why you should watch SAO is so you can tell all your friends how bad it was.

SAO has an interesting premise, good animation and nice opening songs, but it's just bad in practically every other aspect. The main character is your typical Marty Stu, who strives to help everyone he meets and gets all the girls and cool powers because he is a main character, the guild mini-arc is a shameless tearjerker, the last boss fight is bullshit, etc. Everything I am saying about the first arc, by the way. The second one is much worse. If you really want to watch it, I'd recommend to check out the first arc (at least it is has some nice moments and I like the RPG-elements of the game) and drop after that.

Mother's Basement has a couple of interesting videos on SAO with a decent analysis, you can check them out:

No. I watched the whole thing for some reason, but it wasn't worth it because of the ending + what happens half way. It sounded like it was going to be so cool, but then it gets dumb.

As pretty much everyone else said too, no it isn't really worth watching. I really dislike it, because it is unrealistic in a way when it comes to how MMORPG's are constructed and how the playerbase actually behaves. It is really inaccurate and SAO would maybe be the worst game ever made if it actually was real.

A good premise on hindsight killed stone dead several episodes in by its odd pacing (where it jumps through month's worth of dungeons and towns abruptly) and invincible, uber talented main character. Nicely animated and designed though; it's the 2010s anime equivalent of Heroes from the 2000s really.
