Subject title: CTNX - Anyone ever been?

I hope this is not too off topic for this section... I was just wondering, maybe I'm lucky and some people from here have been to CTNX or planning to go this year?
I'll be in LA in autumn and I was wondering whether it's worth going. There doesn't seem to be much info apart from artists who ARE attending and of course praising it, most of all I would like to go to actually meet industry veterans, talk to some people I follow and most importantly get portfolio reviews, but all these things don't seem to be available for the basic entry (around 30 dollars at the moment for one day) and the one that does include all the interesting things is a 3 day pass with lot more access for 200 dollars, so before I just go ahead and buy it I would really like to know if it's worth going. So any of your personal experiences with the event would be very welcome, or what you heard directly from other people who went.
Or if you know any other interesting events in California around that time... :)

Another question - maybe you know this even if you've never been - If I think about specialising more for games, would I be very out of place at an animation expo like CTNX, or is it more or less close together, are there many game artists/directors attending these kind of events too?

i've never been but stephen silver had some stuff to say about the lady that runs it. seems a little sketchy if your going there thinking you're going to get job opportunities or even get feedback from professionals it might not be worth it. i think there's different passes that allows you to go to panels and stuff... i say try to find some more information on what it's like to go there and what you should expect.

I've seen the video by Stephen Silver, but it seemed very personally motivated to me, which is fine but it doesn't really say anything about whether it is good or not, loads of other artists support it, still isn't the same as going as a "spectator" and not a professional, that's why I was hoping to get some answers like that here or on other groups/forums...
