Subject title: PROKO PELVIS

can someone who knows tell me what proko is talking about at the beginning of his Anatomy Critiques - The Pelvis video
about ellipses i know the method to draw cylinder that's a perfect circle in perspective but this squished version doesn't click with me wouldn't using a box be easier?

First off, this is only one way to draw and simplify the pelvis. If you find a different method that works for you, great. Proko's videos are nice resources but they are not the authority on the subject, they are really just one way of doing or seeing things.

To answer your initial question, he explains the reasoning behind the squished cylinder in Anatomy of the Pelvis - for Artists. The cylinder more or less encompasses the structure and anatomy of the pelvis.
