If you upload something to DeviantArt, you can add tags to your picture, so that people can possibly find it per search.
But you can only make 1 word per tag. You cant make empty spaces between words.
How are you supposed to make these tags effectively?
Does something work like

"figure_drawing_practice"
"guy_with_sword"

or

"guy-with-sword"

How do I have to make the tags so that it can be found?

(in the search bar people can make empty spaces)
What if somebody searches for it, but doesnt use the exact same words?
Will somebody find it, if he types in "sword fighting guy" ?

Or how do you do tags there?

You can see all the tags that people used right under the image.
From what I've seen it's mostly writtentogetherlikethis x_x
But I don't think tags do shit on dA in the first place. As far as I know the only time people actually found my stuff throught tags was when I did a sailor moon fanart lol.

You just use all the tags you can come up with.

For example, if you want to upload a picture of a gal with sort red hair, you tag it as

#girl #portraitgirl #onegirl #woman #youngwoman #female #youngfemale #redhair #hairred #girlredhair #redhairgirl #redheadgirl #redheadfemale #femaleredhead #shorthair #hairshort #shorthairgirl

Cover as many variations as you can come up with. Start composing your tag and see what hints will pop up. Use those first (because someone already used them, so it is more likely that people will search using them), and optionally add your own.

Amount of users using search on dA is negligible (unless it is fanart or they are looking for references or wallpapers). Normies will just stick with whatever pops up on main page Browse section.

I type all the single words and type all the words as one word to account for typos.
