Subject title: Project Resurrection

Greetings all
Here is where I include a tiny bit about me. My name is Phoenicorn and I am editor of forumites magazine, a free online art magazine. I found this place via youtube and figured I would get my nuts kicked er I mean get constructive critique over here aswell as several other sites.

I hope the admins don't mind but I will also be on the look out for sketchbooks to feature over at artfreck.com (permission pending of course) and I would also love to interview Sycra for the mag and site. If he is interested.

Anyway enough about that lets get started with some light drawing exercises.
First some quick stick figure work

Image

Next I work on control of my tablet.

First I draw dots at equal spaces apart (create a 5x5 grid)

Image

Connect the dots with straight lines. This is to improve control. Follow the vertical and horizontal with diagonal lines. I will be doing this most days to improve my judgement, control and concentration. I am already seeing an improvement from when I started.

Finally I draw

Circles in each square to get used to drawing curves.

Just for a bit of fun I did a quick speed sketch

You have good a pretty good idea where are you going. For starters you should learn more from life and photos. But designing your own creature, environment is pretty nice too. Try making proportion better and add some more values to the orc. I am hoping seeing some more from you.

Hey Phoenicorn, very cool tablet exercises you do there, and nice artwork too! I love the gesture in the first stick figure, how the line of action goes from the spine goes into the leg.

I actually got the idea from a book. "the fundamentals of drawing"
Also Sycra would you be interested in an interview for artfreck.com and possibly forumites magazine at some point in the future?

You're doing well, but this seems more like a post that belongs in the sketchbook, not the Critique This! forum...

Oh ok Sycra would you mind haveing one of the admins move the sketchbook for me please? I used to run a forum using PHPBB so I know it can be done.
I suppose I put it here so I could get crit as I continued with the sketchbook on where I should be learning.

I wanted to see how much I have improved over the past few weeks.
