Subject title: Mage, thing..

I drew, um. A mage/wizard type guy I guess. I'm quite happy with it, but I'm sure it could be fixed in places. So, I'm posting it here.

I'm open for any kind of critique really.. Video, over-drawing, edit, written, etc. Anything to help me get better.

Is he floating? I Think you need him to be standing on something or indicate it by putting more work in the background. He could be floating (because he's a "mage"), I don't know though.
You can't spell earth without art.

if it was me,i would make the edge lines on the clothes more dark since its night time and i would try to get better shading effect...to make it look more real. Or to pinpoint the moon,it would help with shading.

I don't think there needs t o be emphisis on whether the character is floating or not. If you look at the proportions, under his robe we are looking at him from thigh to head so whether he's standing or floating makes no difference. As long as we see that he's trying to convey that this character is a mage. I think that he successfully presented that he is and the bg is simply for atmosphere and mood. Don't always need in depth detail to tell a story. As long as what the story being told is understood.

One thing I would say though is that it should have more of a glow to the lightning because I didn't understand it was lightning for a while after looking at it. It looked like the outline for a black cloud or a rock face or something i wasn't quite able to decipher right away.
