Subject title: Shading and Faces..

Yes Hi, I' ve been drawing since i was little and i have a hard time grasping the concept of shading. Especially the human face or anything of that nature. I was wondering if you can help me to understand better about shading and lights and darks. Thankyou

The best way I find to get better at rendering faces is to do value studies from photographs. Just find some portraits, change them to grayscale and try to make an exact copy of it. The more you do, the better you'll be at it. The rendering in the image you've attached is far too light.
