The piece is lacking a primary lighting which is making the lighting unclear. If it's daytime sunlight should be your primary light which is cast from above, but in your picture shadows seem to be put down quite randomly allover. The picture is also weirdly cropped leaving a lot of empty space on the right.

I think the creature is really cool but the pose and overall composition isn't showing that much personality. Same goes for the two girls. What are they doing? What are the girls doing with this creature? Why does the other girl have a pickaxe? There is nothing going on really and that makes the picture boring. Try to tell more of a story!
