Subject title: Help with faces?

Hey, it's been awhile since I've posted here; I've felt myself get a better and better grasp on anatomy as I've been away, I've been using way more reference and doing figure studies, but as I get better at that I feel more and more that my faces are lacking. I especially have little confidence in how I draw eyes. Does anyone have pointers for me?

Its great that you are feeling that you are gaining progress on your art! Confidence and constant practice is key to success when learning new skills. I noticed that in the face of your portrait, there isn't enough definition in the eye-sockets which may be the problem. As well as the skin in general, it seems a bit too over-blended! Try to relax the way you paint, and blend slightly afterwards. Hope you have a great year filled with many masterpieces :)
