Subject title: Sketchbook of Artdumpness (NSFW sometimes)

(aaaa this is a 3rd attempt I hope this goes through :( )Hii Guys! I'm relatively new here ^^ I've been drawing for quite a while, and then I had an artblock that lasted 5+ years which was torture, but now I'm trying to get back into it, and progress .u. ... I'm trying to discipline myself to draw as opposed to only do it when motivated, because the latter ruined me tbh.

Critiques are welcome!

Added NSFW bc I like drawing the gore and sometimes noodies :?
I feel as though I struggle a lot with proportions and 3D depth in general... Drapery/clothing is another.

I know my art can fluctuate between realistic/cartoony which is something I don't really mind bc I know when I get into a regime of drawing, I'll be able to control it better :)

I'll also take suggestions on things I should study (bananas, fire hydrants, cars, clouds etc )

I'll be posting some of my digital art first... I drew these during the course of my artblock, and I'll start posting my traditionally drawn studies next (I'd post digital studies but I lost my cintiq pen :oops: *sad sighing* )
[ EDIT: I finally got a new tablet pen but I'll still do a lot of studying in traditional and digital to get a good balance on both mediums ;) ]
. I hope to maybe get as good as Krenz, Loish or Ilya Kuvshinov someday but eyy baby steps amirite?

Oh yeah if you have any suggestions for books to study I'd be very grateful!! I love reading artbooks, thanks ^^

WELCOME to the forums!

what a set of pictures to set the bar with! gonna be intresting to follow your thread for sure.

really like what you've done.

the light'n' shade portraits of the Boyz are my fav of the lot. they have alot of 'feel' and depth to them wich feels
very nice to look at, like the eye is resting in the picture.

Ahh thank you!! I've been really into colouring/rendering for a long time and same with colour palettes ^^ That pic with the guys, I think I've tried taking the most time and patience with because I tend to get anxious easily, and rush the drawing "to get it over with"... With that one I barely rushed, to get out of that bad habit heheh. I'm going to post my studies (traditional) for a while since I lost my precious cintiq pen :( (new one coming in soon I hope)

I posted my digital drawings first so it's easier to do before/after comparisons. I feel I've studied one area for way too long (colour/rendering) so I hope to advance and become more well rounded ^^

So I started out in a sketchbook in end of March... It wasn't really until The middle of April I decided to try get back into the swing of things! I don't have much friends irl :? So luckily I manage to have one to be a study buddy with me for a while. We got up every morning to go to the mall and sketch the people around us. I also tried drawing everything I read in Vilpuu and Michal hampton's anatomy books (I'm still not done them yet, trying to absorb what I'm learning >.< and I'm slow) also drawing off of refs too (photos, irl etc)

This was my first page of "Day one" You can really see the mental block and strain here, ouf... I made it a personal goal to try fill as much as I can in 1 page, so hopefully I can accomplish more in the future ^^;;

Deer gestures, some I looked off of Disney concepts, some I drew quick gestures off of photos/vid frames. It took several minutes for each of them

Aaa ty >u< means a lot!! Creating atmosphere is my favourite part of drawing hehe!!
__________
Ok I'm posting the sketches of people I do at the mall and LEMME TELL YOU!!

I have been clinically diagnosed with acute anxiety disorder in the past, so I never realised just how anxiety inducing this activity would be!! It was like I was thrown into lava-- having to force myself to stare at others minding their own business... (I have a hard time making eye contact irl alone '~~' ) Though honestly, this was practically exposure therapy for me. It really forced me to face my fears and just deal with it :) everything was done within 30sec-4ish min. I drew a lot of people on their phones because they're the least immersed with their surroundings xD.

I've had one artist come up to me noticing I was drawing and liked my work (semi-caught? I didn't even notice them!!) It made me feel better because :c I kindaaa have a really, really self deprecating view of my own work. Anyways my nervousness started disappearing the more I was drawing. I did it for like 1-2ish hours heheh

...I swear after 20 min I got a weird drawing high off of this :shock:

Ok one more for today =u= Just some watercolours I did. Some are studies, some I just did for fun! I'm still rather new to watercolour painting, but I find it rather therapeutic regardless. I kinda use both this dollar store watercolours and Windsor&Newton at the same time xD;
18157960_1204581726319668_5748108258408417101_n.jpg
For this one I just drew 6 circles and tried creating something from imagination out of blobby paint, then I keep refining it to practice rush techniques. I like how my winter one came out the most ^^

Aaa that really means a lot to me, thanks ;u;!! I'm striving to push more energy and gestures into my artwork and refrain from stiffness and awkward posing vuv;; I still feel I have a long way to go but having someone notice makes me feel like I'm on the right track ^^
________
I did some scenery/environment sketching too. Environments are definitely not my strong point, but I feel I'm getting better ^^; it was my first time doing something like this! I can't really believe I shied away from trying this for so long :?

(also, I apologise for taking "photos" I don't have a scanner so the drawings are a bit skewed :( )

I didn't do any perspective lines or anything so it's a little wonky. I have a habit of becoming too dependent on grids to the point there's no "life" in the environment, so I'm just attempting to draw what I'm seeing instead.

I haven't drawn much the past week due to moving ( packing/unpacking and whatnot) here's some things I've drawn. They aren't studies but I did feel inspired by Koji Morimoto lately :)

Aaaa ty so much!!! I admit, if you see any "paperbag" art in here, it's usually vent art xD I like making vent art very surreal so that way it's easier to look back and reflect upon :) I feel like Mr. Morimoto's aesthetic really helps with that.

So before my "digital art hiatus" I worked on this piece. It's fanart of Melanie Martinez xD;; idk I find her aesthetic, songs and story arc interesting! This whole thing here probably took me over 10 hours. the bunny alone was 6. I'd like to put as much detail as I can in here, and practice different textures. I'm hoping the atmosphere is projecting what I'm aiming for. I'm gonna be revisiting this piece soon ^^

ps. I did try sneaking in a lot of Mark Ryden inspo in there heheh

Those stuffed animals looked really creepy, like they're possessed. It's pretty cool. The ice cream cone is odd, it's both behind and in front of that bear(?) I really like the marker art pieces too. They have a graphic quality to them while still feeling like they have form.
