Subject title: Jmax's Sketchbook (critiques are always welcomed ^-^)

Hey everyone. I've seen many of you guys have a sketchbook in which you put your struggles and learning so I've decided to create this sketchbook. Also, a forum member recommended it to me :)

I'll start by putting something I'm currently working on http://fav.me/danc43a

I'll try and post old stuff and studies I've done later on.

No excuses, you are where you are because of you and nobody else. Just stop coming up with excuses, get up and start running or time will leave you behind.

This are other things I could post at the moment cuz they are on my deviantart. They are just practices I did to understand better how to do greyscale paintings and features of the head.

http://fav.me/damif1z (This is a quick study I had done a while back and I think I posted in the forums here for critique and got great feedback that helped me understand what I was trying to learn by doing this)

Just wanted to update what I've done so far. Still a bunch of hours left to put on it to be finished but slowly working on it. At the moment just laying down somecolors to c how they work, not getting attached to anything. Ill add more colors that create contrast and are apealing to the eye cuz right now it just looks dead. If you have any idea on how to accomplish this let me know, ill be eternally greatful :) Also plan on fixing the face, it does not looks good at all .-.

Hey! I guess it looks "dead" because your using too desaturated colors, you could add more bright colors for contrast, too. Like our master sinix says: add as much hue variations as you can. Hope that helps :D

nice another fate fan :D, you've already made great progress on the painting, your colours are looking way better, i'd opt for a thinner nose, love the way you did the purple shirt and love the hair colours, might want to check out WLOP he has some sabre paintings u might get some ideas from. I'll be following your progress :D looking forward to the end result!

Here I post a few pages of my sketchbook in which I mostly practice and do studies. A few of them a a bit old but not too long ago. The order is from oldest to more recent :)
Btw, if u have any advice on ways I could study and practice that may be more effective for learning how to draw and the anatomy and other things, feel free to post a reply. I would love to know of other ways to do so and would also like to try out your recommendations :) Ohh and sorry for the bad quality of the images... Its just that taking a good picture here can be very difficult :/ sorry.

This is when I started doing gesture drawing because I realized their importance when drawing. So bad T^T Feel like pulling my eyes out, not that Ive gotten drastucally better but I have at least a bit :) Btw, first started with 30 sec but it was to fast for me so I up it to 2 mins.

This when I started doing more sudies and practicing the arm muscle and later on the leg muscle :) Became easier to understand how they worked once I knew the muscles.

Some quick figure practice I did today. Just trying to understand the figure better not trying to make clean sketches :) The bottom left one gave me trouble and just ditched it  but saved the image to understand the pose better later.
