haha, Man I love it. You're drawings look so weird. Just go on, You've got your own handwriting (in drawing) if I've ever seen it.

Thanks Steeliebob!
Honestly your sketch book might have just inspired me to start experimenting by putting clothes on my figures? (Or maybe I'm just being optimistic)

Self portrait... Although I basically gave up on likeness after the first 20m because the original picture was fish eyed and distorted anyways.

So glad for the encouragement of the "creepier" pieces because that's what I really enjoy drawing.
I decided to give the self-portrait another go and focus more on likeness and also rendering differently -- drawing less and shading/blotting in colour more....
In my imagination this leads to me actually painting one day... One day...

I had never seen David Firth's work before NesoKaiyoH mentioned him so thank-you for the introduction, but yeah... His stuff is REALLY weird and creepy xD

Another portrait, but this time I've decided to show my process in case there are some glaring steps I SHOULD be taking, or that I should be doing in different orders etc. to achieve better, or just different results...

Right now I'm kind of cheating in the sense that in Photoshop I have colour layers which deal with hue variation ONLY (no value changes); shadow layers set to the multiply blend mode to darken values; and then lighting/highlight layers set to the linear-dodge blend mode to lighten values... But eventually I'd like to discard the blending modes entirely (enabling me to be more precise and deliberate with my colour variations and choices?)
Also eventually I'd like to skip the preliminary sketch all together.

School's almost out here, but until then I find myself caught in the abyss of finals and I feel my sanity surely slipping away
(Today I spent 20m laughing along with a classmate as we were researching the origin, definition and use of the word "devolvulation" coming from "vovulus" -- meaning a twist of an intestine leading to it's obstruction......"

Here's some 3D models and renders I made (for school newspaper stuffs), I know they're pretty dull conceptually and compositionally (let alone the entire light bulb = idea cliché)
But I was proud of the technical effort and learning necessary to create these renders so I think they belong in my sketchbook.

Final high school year was kind of intense didn't get much drawing done unfortunately, but now that it's over I'm trying to get back into things :)

The first real project i've started since school ended is another 3D sculpt, only I wanted the proportions and style to be more reflective of my drawings and tastes (many wrinkles and exaggerated proportions).
I like the way the folds around the mouth and chin turned out, however, my eyes and surrounding folds are really weak: not only unconvincing but also just pretty lame when compared to the character that the folds and expression that the mouth brings. One thing about 3D modelling is that you can't just rely on iconography when you don't have the understanding of the 3D form like you can in 2D drawing, and it became very clear over the course of the sculpt that my eyes need the most work by far, even though I probably spent the most time on them.
I didn't end up texturing or shading the sculpt (making it look like it had realistic skin/pores etc.) or adding eyeballs cause doing that stuff is really technically oriented and tedious and I just didn't feel up to it.
Hope you like it!

Latest batch of sketches: trying to draw either new creatures or draw based off references so I stop drawing using the same shapes over and over again and never get anywhere.
