Subject title: Newest of the new. Would like a buddy or mentor!

I'm pretty much the newest of the new at drawing. I've just started, I never drew anything during school because I had no confidence in drawing, always knew I was terrible. That said, it is always something I wanted to do and lately I said to myself, it's about time I start. First it was a lot of procrastination but I've finally started and... I'm lost. I don't know any fundamentals, shading or lighting. I've been looking online for guides/references but just bookmark then and don't come back.. maybe because I've got so much bookmarked I don't know where to start.

I got passed that a few days ago, started with some exercises, drawing lines etc and eventually tried a few things; some gesture drawings, a dragon from reference and a flower from my colouring pencils tin.

I don't need anyone to sit under me but rather just give me a few guidelines as to what I should be doing, where I should be starting. I've got an interest in all forms of art, landscape, video game characters, cartoons, flowers and so on. But I've only got pencil and paper (I'm really interested in getting a graphics tablet ). My plan was to just draw from reference, find pictures I like and draw them. However, I'd like to be able to make them more lively than just a few lines topped off with poor colouring.

I think that perhaps having a buddy would help me along, someone to comment on my drawings, compare drawings with and perhaps draw the same thing together and see who's best (a competition?).

I'm so sorry that this is such a big wall of text.

You've got plenty more experience than me so I'm sure you would be great help! Although I haven't started digital art yet because I'm without a graphics tablet but I want to get one soon. Thanks :D but I don't think they're so good haha, really basic  It's a start I guess

I'll take you up on the offer, thanks! Your art work is awesome! Something I'd like to try and do is replicate landscapes from video games such as Morrowind. Though I think I'm a bit off that haha, would need to learn better perspectives and shading

Thanks! I could definitely give you some tips on perspective and such, landscapes are definitely something I need to work on as well (i've spent the year mostly studying characters). Maybe when summer starts in a month I'll do some landscapes with you! :D
